The Season of Giving

“Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have” -Jim Rohn

During this time of year in America we celebrate many different holidays. Christmas, Hanukah and Kwanzaa are based on the premise of giving and receiving. It is important for our children to learn to give as well as receive. As adults, we can use this season to help our children learn to give. Here are some suggestions to encourage giving:

  • · Get involved with a local organization to help give to children that need toys or books
  • · Have your child find one or two toys to give away to someone
  • · Make cards to give to a children’s hospital
  • · Allow your child help pick out a gift for a family member
  • · Collect coats and gloves for a shelter

Be creative and think of ways your family can enjoy giving this year. This year our Kindred family will donate to The Journey Home. Journey Home helps to end homelessness in Baltimore.
